Ok I looked into it further and I am still unable to reproduce it. Now I have seen this problem before when 03.03.06 was under development and it was solved by wrapping the calls in the Custom Hydrator with checks for null that will always return a default value instead of null. These are built into DNN and in the case of an integer, will always return -1 if it is null.

Here is what I tested with:
DNN Version: 4.4.1
Server OS: Windows 2003
Hosting Permissions: Shared

I started with a fresh install of 4.4.1. I then logged in and tested the editing of a link that was added by default. It was successful. I then added a link and edited it. It was successful. The version of links that comes with 4.4.1 is 03.03.01. After these tests, 03.03.06 was installed and the same tests repeated. All succeeded.

Perhaps I am not asking the right questions, so lets try some more. What type of link did you create? What version of the links module is showing up under the modules page? Did you select any of the options when creating the link (open in new window, track, etc)? Maybe these will give me more insight into what is happening. Also, are there any other error messages in the log?

You wrote: What type of link did you create?
Answer: I tried with a link to a page, and an external link.

You wrote: What version of the links module is showing up under the modules page?
Answer: 3.03.01 and 3.03.06 - had same issuse. 3.03.06 is currently installed

You wrote: Did you select any of the options when creating the link (open in new window, track, etc)?
Answer: I tried a couple options, but not all possible options. I tried removing all tracking, etc, and still encountered the issue.

You wrote: Also, are there any other error messages in the log?
Answer: No

Is there anything I should check for in the database?

Also, I noticed you're testing 4.4.1 whereas the issue I'm having is with 4.4.0 - I don't know if that would have anything to do with it?

The only things I would check for in the database would be the links table. You want to make sure the links are in there and associated with the proper portal

As far as 4.4.0 vs. 4.4.1, I can test either. Rather than ask you to install 4.4.1, I can install 4.4.0 on the same server and test again. I will let you know the results of that test in the morning. Thanks again for taking the time to answer the questions. If we can't solve it, at least we will know what the problem isnt, .

If you think I was insulting , you need to get out more.  Bottom line to me, the end user, is that I was once again forced to purchase a module. Which in itself isnt horrible, other than, I agian had to go in and modify the module to include spacing between the links and to kill the no-wrap.

If you check the installer area I do volunteer my time, I also take the time to post answers to my questions that I find outside of this forum. So sorry if it perturbs me when I am trying to work out issues and someones reply is almost helpful but not quite there.  I can also understand your replies, haveing seen similar, on sites that have search engines that preform well.

Honestly, the potential I see in DNN for my company is great and yet my efforts to work out issues have been very fustrating, becuase of that I might have "bit" a little to hard.  On the other hand the core team might take note of the amount of posts that go unanswered or questions that go unresolved, and take it a little easier on us poor end users.

Having said that I know many of you volunteer your time and efforts to make this project work and are to be congradulated for it.

By the way I looked at crystaltech,  I didnt see mention of DNN , granted I didnt look that deep, it was mentioned in the scripts section of your hosting plans, but did not seem to be really promoted, is there a reason for that?  NEver mind just curious.

While I understand your frustration, as I felt it during the 2.x days and let the core team have it, please look at the number of posts in the forum that are replied to by myself. I try to answer every post, sometimes I admit I might be in a hurry and miss read the issue reported, but they do get read and responded to. If I cannot help the person, I try to point them in the right direction. I can count on 1 hand the number of unanswered posts in this part of the forum. They were either answered by myself or another DNN team member. If there are posts that are going unanswered in other forums, then please bring them to someone's attention. While I cannot handle all issues DNN related either due to limted subject knowledge or limited time, I try to help where I can.

As far as CT goes, that is something best asked of our sales department. I try to keep my roles as Project Lead and CT Sr. Developer separate. I try not to answer forum posts that are asking about hosts as I am biased on the subject naturally. If I do post about CT it is usually in response to someone having an issue and telling them to contact me directly for support. I do know that CT does plan on becoming more involved with DNN as a company and has proven that by becoming a platinum sponsor. Bottom line, I might work at CT, but I personally volunteered my time to DNN. CT had nothing to do with that decision other than to make sure I was not getting myself involved in a conflict of interests since we are publicly traded.
