Hi Leif.

Are you running your DNN on your own local w2k-Server at home, like i do?

If so: do you have win2000 or win2003 server?

However, after finding out the strange thing with McAfee, i could deinstall the whole SMTP-Stuff from my server at all. There is no need to have an own SMTP-Server, just for "forwarding" (= relaying) your mails.

The other case could be that you are running an exchange-installation as well on the same machine....

I am also having problems with SMTP...but im using GMail's SMTP.  GMail uses SSL and i dont think they use defualt SSL ports and i dont know how to tell DNN to use the right ports but this is from my logs:

To specify a Port, add it to the end of your SMTP host string after a colon.

For Google I think it should be smtp.gmail.com:465 or  smtp.gmail.com:587

And then check the box for SSL.

I went into McAfee and then into "Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail" and added WebDev.WebServe, into the Excluded Processes string, I could send email. I am using DNN on my XP machine for testing and configuration.
