I upgraded my DNN 3.3.6 site today with the 3.3.7 upgrade. After the upgrade the site looked fine but I could not logon with the host acct or admin acct. I tried several dummy accts I made and none worked. Tried "forgot password' and it says there is no password for this user... made a new account and was able to logon fine. I'm not sure how but I think all my passwords were wiped.

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this. I'm not sure what my most recent backup is and that was my bad, but I'd hate to loose two months of work and end up with a 3.3.5 or lower install and have to upgrade all over again.

Thanks

I found my own answer. From the server side we had to use SQL Manger to access the user account table. We registered a new user name on our DNN Site then upgraded it to a Super User account. We were then able to logon to the DNN Site with that account an begin Reseting the user passwords.

If anyone else has a problem like this I hope they have access to their server and can run SQL Manager or they may be in deep crap.

I'm not happy with this update and by the looks of things there are more issues with this one than I have seen in a long time.

One thing I would like to add to my post is a recommendation to the core team. Whomever is working on the user account module I would suggest making a way to batch reset all the user accounts on the portal and if possible make it so you can sort by group. In order to fix the problems I had that the 3.3.7 update caused I had to manually go in and reset all the user passwords on the site, including the host and admin accounts.

I would also suggest that when you select a user account to modify; after updating the account it should return you to the point where you went in instead of returning you to the top of the list. I have over 250 user accounts and had to go to the page then the account so many times I think I have carpel tunnel syndrome now...

I just ran into this same problem but after looking at the install forum
"

Upgrade - contains just the run-time resources. Includes a release.config and development.config. You can safely use this version for upgrading your site. However there is not automated utility for merging changes in the configuration files. Since there are nodes in the release.config and development.config which are new / required for DNN to function correctly, you will need to manually merge the applicable sections. This not a new step - it has been a requirement for any DNN upgrade all way back to version 1.0.0. Does not include any Module packages. The reasoning is that users do not always want to upgrade their modules when they upgrade the core.

In general, the standard method for dealing with config upgrades is to rename your existing web.config to web.config.backup. Rename the release.config to web.config. Then manually copy the following settings from the old web.config.backup to the new web.config file:

    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="{connection string}"/>
    <add key="MachineValidationKey" value="{your localized key}" />
    <add key="MachineDecryptionKey" value="{your localized key}" />

you may also want to move your objectQualifier specification ( if you have one in your old web.config.backup )

    <data defaultProvider="SqlDataProvider">
      <providers>
        <clear />
        <add name="SqlDataProvider" type="DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider, DotNetNuke.SqlDataProvider" connectionStringName="SiteSqlServer" upgradeConnectionString="" providerPath="~\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\" objectQualifier="" databaseOwner="dbo" />
      </providers>
    </data>

"

 to move the machinekey and the encryption key from the web.config file fixed it.

Yeah I had tried that too, but in my case it was not successful. Might help someone else though.
