I downloaded the DNN 4.4.0 Starter Kit (clean install, no upgrade) with no apparent problem.  The DNN documentation shows that once these files are installed, you can use the starter kits in VS2005 by File > New Web Site > DotNetNuke Web Application Projects, a link under the "My Templates" section (after the Search Online Templates link).

Problem is that, after an install with no errors, I do not have this DNN Web Applications link.  Am I missing a step somewhere?

Thanks in advance...

I had the same problem, so I googled and here is the answer I found: basically when doing File->New->New Web Site, make sure you change the language box to VB, since DNN is written in VB, and the DNN icon will show up!

Would help if DNN documenation would mention this.

Thanks to Rich/homerun on forums.microsoft.com, here is where I found the answer from him:

The question is now, how to write a C# Web site with DNN starting up as a VB project... I'll have to check this out now :-)

You have to "install" the starter kit after downloading it. First extract the contents of the zip file, then double-click on the file "DotNetNuke.vscontent" to install the template.
