Yeah, switching to Basic Text Box, Raw etc won't do it. Thiose modes are for entering data without any formatting at all. They're superfluous and I always remove them from my sites. More useful is the "Source" button in the editor here top-left. It's quicker and does the same thing.

However, what's needed for posting code is some form of formatting that will maintain the code's integrity when rendered by the browser.

I'll try a few options here by attempting to display a horizontal rule tag as code:

This one is enclosed in "code" tags as used in some forums: <code><hr></code>

This one is styled with the "Code" style from the drop-down above: <hr>

This one is enclosed in "textarea" tags: <textarea><hr></textarea>

Let's submit the post and see if any of them show up as "hr" surrounded by angle brackets.

hmm they all worked fine as plain code

My second guess as to why that one post messed the display up was that a quote tag was deleted by mistake in a reply.

Nope, broke the page again. Textarea seems to work. Here is the code that breaks the page when posted which should never happen in my opinion regardless of what is in the post.

Did you paste that in in the full editor or in the basic text mode? I inserted the bits into the rich text editor and it left all the tags intact.

Here's textarea in rich text: <textarea> booo</textarea>

and here it is in basic text mode:

I'm pretty sure most things will work if you just leave it in rich text mode.

I'll try pasting your code:

<head id="Head"><meta id="MetaDescription" name="DESCRIPTION" content="This is a Fortune Bay Intranet site."><meta id="MetaKeywords" name="KEYWORDS" content="Fortune Bay Resort Casino Intranet"><meta id="MetaCopyright" name="COPYRIGHT" content="Copyright 2006 by My Website"><meta id="MetaGenerator" name="GENERATOR"><meta id="MetaAuthor" name="AUTHOR" content="Fortune Bay Intranet"><meta name="RESOURCE-TYPE" content="DOCUMENT"><meta name="DISTRIBUTION" content="GLOBAL"><meta name="ROBOTS" content="INDEX, FOLLOW"><meta name="REVISIT-AFTER" content="1 DAYS"><meta name="RATING" content="GENERAL"><meta http-equiv="PAGE-ENTER" content="RevealTrans(Duration=0,Transition=1)"><style id="StylePlaceholder"></style><link id="_Portals__default_" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/Portals/_default/default.css" /><link id="_Portals__default_Skins_fortunebay_" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/Portals/_default/Skins/fortunebay/skin.css" /><link id="_Portals__default_Containers_DNN_Blue_" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/Portals/_default/Containers/DNN-Blue/container.css" /><link id="_Portals_0_" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/Portals/0/portal.css" /><title>
