Hey, I am not sure of the issue. Some users have had no problems while others have not been able to get this to work. I am really not sure what the difference is and to be quite honest I am hours away from a beta release of the next version which is a complete overhaul. You may not believe it, but it almost pains me to say this, please give us a bit more time and upgrade to the new version. We will require 4.4 core or later though.

Do you have an ETA on the release of the new Forum Module?  Our Forum Module notifications are also not working.  All settings are in place, and Host Settings are in place.  Also, I receive all Portal-level notification e-mails.

[EDIT]
Looking through the source that is available to us (v3.20.09), it appears that the Forums Module is using the System.Mail Namespace.  We are running DNN v4.05.03, which is .Net 2.0.  In this version of .Net, the e-mail namespace has changed to System.Net.Mail.  This may or may not be the contributor to the problem.  Shouldn't module use the DNN mail methods?
[/EDIT]
