Okay... I'm at my wits end with this error. All was going well with my hosted install of 4.3.7 until a week or so ago and tried to open the site settings and get the following error: error BC30560: 'controls_urlcontrol_ascx' is ambiguous in the namespace 'ASP'. I get the same error trying to view the host settings and the module settings.

I'm about to blow everything away and start from scratch again, which I hate to do because I have two portals live on this install, but a website isn't very useful if you can't make changes.

I figure it can't hurt to throw out a call to the guru's of DNN before I hit the delete key. Anyone have an idea what could be causing the problem?

Thanks in advance,
Poolie

That is an indication that there is more than one UrlControl in your install.

Look for that file, and see if there is two of them.

Also look in the log viewer and post the stack trace so we can see exactly what is causing the error.

I get this problem every couple of days..  I don't know what causes it but if you choose rebuild solution instead of build solution it will solve the problem.

only found the one copy in the controls directory. It's a mystery for sure. I've pasted one of the Stack Traces.

Thanks again,

Just as a follow up, it appears that the server where I'm hosting my site is the cause of my problem. I made a backup of the DB and restored it to my local machine. Ftp'd  a copy of the entire install down to my machine. Changed the connection string and low and behold it works without error.

Still not sure what the problem is, but at least I know where to start looking.

Thanks,

Poolie
