I have seen several other posts dealing with this error, but have yet to see a single one that contains a solution.  I am trying to upgrade a DNN 3.3.7 instance to 4.4.1.  From combing through this forum, it seems that the culprit is PortalController.FillPortalInfo.  As you can see from the stack trace below, the UrlRewriter is the starting point for my error.  I have tried commenting out that module in the web.config, but then I just get an exception involving localization (object ref error). 

If anyone can provide any insight into this, I would be appreciative- and so would the other people that have been having this issue.
