I have used Days now trying to install DNN on a remote server. I have mannaged to install it locally on my laptop, but it seems impossilble to install it on the remote server which I access only via FTP.

After a few tries I get prompted ifor username and password in a popup window (not a website). I have tried to enter host-dnnhost, admin-dnnadmin, but I cant the installation started.

Any suggestions what I have done wrong?

2nd question - When making a clean install does it meat to upload the installationfiles again, and overwrite the existing installation files, and then try to call http://..... Dotnetnuke/default.aspx again?

Well, not sure, but I would look in the documentation about what permissions ASP.NET needs to run on the remote server.  If I recall, there are several accounts that it could be based on the operating system on the remote machine.

2nd Question: If it's a clean install, you would also drop and recreate the database.  And it helps to make a copy of your web.config file to retain your database connection settings.

Thank you very much for your responses!

I had a small temporary asp.net application running on the server, which I had assumed could run seperately from the DNN installation, but This was not the case. Now I moved my teporary site, and the problem dissapeared.

Thanks Anyway fo the help!!
