Hi All,

I thought I'd share with you all the fruits of a very frustrating two hours spent trying to work out why an upgrade from DNN 4.3.2 to 4.4.1 failed after upgrading the database successfully...

First of all the upgrade ZIP package does not contain the same version of DotNetNuke.WebControls.dll as the install ZIP package which causes some really strange references.

The other bug which clearly was not a problem in 4.3.2 concerned an upgrade at the end of last year from SQL Express to SQL Developer. In DNN 4.3.2 ASP.NET is able to auto-connect to the existing database file in App_Data however in DNN 4.4.1 the web request for default.aspx fails returning a 404 error. It only started working when I moved the database file from App_Data and reattached it to my local DB server and then revised the connection string in web.config!

Anyway - no time to sit on my laurels - I'm busier than a one-handed juggler at the moment!! Don't forget to check those ZIP files though guys.

Regards,

Adrian Lewis

Long suffering C++/ATL/MFC/COM/C# guru/programmer
