I'm having trouble installing DNN. I'm using VS 2005, DNN v4.4.1 running on XP Home. When I do a ctrl+F5, the validation in the output window shows installation successful with no errors. When the browser tries to load, I recieve the following error:

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 04.04.01

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

I checked the Installation guide and it says something about the database name being fat fingered. Here is my connection string:

<connectionStrings>
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2005 Express -->
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Data Source=.\SQLExpress;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True;AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Database.mdf;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    <!-- Connection String for SQL Server 2000/2005
    <add
      name="SiteSqlServer"
      connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke;uid=;pwd=;"
      providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
   -->
  </connectionStrings>

I'm not using IIS, just the simple server that comes with VS2005. Everything looks good to me but what do I know?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you installed SQL Server is it possible that you created a named instance rather thant he default??

An easy way to check this is to open SQL Server Management Studio Express and see what the listed server name is.  This name value is what should be included in your web.config!

Hello Seenya,

Are you using SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Server 2000/2005?

No, I specifically made sure it was a default installation. The server comes up in Management Studio as UPSTAIRS, which is the name of my computer. I changed the web.config to reflect this and now I get this printout:

Looks like some type of upgrade problem but I'm not upgrading! Once again, any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks for your response.
