Hi,
I just need to know, whether I have to made some "installations" before I can run the portal. Whenever I downloaded an upgrade and just extract the ZIP file to the web site, opened it with VS2005, I received errors.
First there are error messages after compilation (therefore unsuccessful), but that's not the main problem. When I open it in IE, I still receive errors - problems with global.asax or Install.aspx - always "could not load type XXX".
Is realy DNN extract & run application?

  Thanx

I have not had any problems with installations or upgrades and compiling errors....

What are you specifically encountering?

Karel:

Unless you actually want or need to develop your own modules you DO NOT need to have or use Visual Studio to get going with DNN, in other words, you can download the "Install" version of DNN and it is pretty much extract and run.

So you think, that problems are made by VS2005? But that's very serious, because I need to develop my own modules.

Sorry to ask but, have you developed other applications in VS 2005 on this particular machine.  I'm only asking to see if your configuration is working properly to start with.  See if you can create a simple ASP.Net "Hello World" type of page and see if it works.  For DNN to work you need IIS, SQL Server, and ASP.Net to be working properly.

If the above is covered, then I would recommend you see the link below for some excellent step by step tutorials on how to develop modules.

Notice that for you to do module development you use the "Install" version of DNN not the "Source" version (unless you want to modify the core, which I doubt you need to do).
