Hi

I would like to give a non-admin user access to several admin pages. I tried to modify the amin template in order to give access to certain admin pages to non-admin users. However, then the export template functionality did not work. I am not sure how to modify the template. Could someone provide me with instructions on how to modify the template in order to give the user role aminlight access to the site settings page.

Tanks

As far as I know, there is no way to do this. However, depending on which pages you are trying to give them access to, there may be work-arounds. Which pages do you want them to have access to?

I would like to give them access to the following pages

Admin -> Site settings
Admin -> Pages
Admin -> User Accounts
Admin -> Skins
Admin -> Languages

For user accounts, there are several modules that you can buy that let you allow non-admin users to add users, and place them in roles, based on criteria you define. I am currently using UCanUse for that, but I'm considering switching to DataSpring's product.

I don't have specific answers for you on the other pages, but for site settings, you will probably need to think about which settings you want them to have access to, and search for modules that control that particular setting (i.e. if you want them to be able to change their site skin, I'm sure I've seen at least one module you can buy that will allow non-admin users to do that).

Register and open this page: http://www.davebuckner.com/Default.aspx?tabid=56

His replacement control bar lets you select which Admin menu items to show to admins. This tackles the issue from the other direction... you make the person host, but you only let them do certain things.
