Also having problems creating parent portals after upgrading to 4.5.
Receiving error that template file is valid even though I have just created it from parent portal. Validation results state that "The element 'permission' has invalid child element 'userid'." and "The element 'module' has invalid child element 'foldername'."

It seems there is something in the templates that is causing problems. I can not create a portal from a template either.

At first I thought it was the modules and content I was exporting to the template so I removed all of the modules and did not export any content. Still can not create a portal.

I did however create this site with the dotnetnuke template to bigin with and that worked.

I am experiencing both of these problems... both with Template is not Valid and Error creating Profile Definitions. Any word on this?

I've spent hours trying to install 4.5 and I'm about at the end of my rope.  I'm getting the the same error as the original post.  I've used the InstallWizard every time.  And with each new attempt I've recreated a new database, new directories, new virtual directories, reset permissions, etc.  Please, someone has had to have solved this problem.  I should mention that I did get a successful install the very first time I installed it in a test directory.  I then deleted that one and did a fresh install in another directory (a more appropriate place for my development work).  Ever since then, I can't get this to install.

From the InstallWizard/AutoUpdate option selected:

 

When I click on "Click here to Access Your Portal" I get:

Same here, exported a template and getting

xxx.template is not a valid Portal Template File.

Validation Results

Works with the build in dotnetnuke template so I am assuming the export function is broken (?).
