Ok,

Now I feel really dumb!  I have installed other PHP Nuke Versions in the Past and wanted to try out this ASP Version.  Unforutnately I have to agree with alot of first timers.  The Installation Documentation is not informative enough to make complete since.

SQL Express Advance edition is pretty much just like SQL there is no App Data-  Plus when adding the arguments in web.config file things start to look like they are working.  But I feel that there is more to this install than meets the eye.

IIS 6.0 is shown is this a minimum requirement.  Virtual Directory security does not work on iis 5.1  you cannot add the ASPNET service to this directory after allow simple sharing.

now these forums must be young or the threads are too deep.  Does anyone have the whiner step on this application.  I have down alot of development on phpnuke modules, my gosh can even get this to run locally first.

I thaught that install video guide would work but there needs to be a CBT on step 1 through what ever.

Sorry to be a whiner, but  it only took me a couple of days to figure phpmyadmin mysql, and php portal scripts.  But now that I have a ton of 2003 server and xp pro machines  I want to start replication.

let me know if anyone has a better how to book pdf

just a few remarks:

  • Other than the name hints, DotNetNuke is in no way related to PHPNuke!
  • AFAIK DNN runs fine in xp pro under IIS 5.1. If you say Directory Security does not work, did you remember to turn off Simple File Sharing in explorer options. Simple file sharing hides the security tab ....
  • Indeed these forums are young, we moved over from asp.net a little over a year ago... and already almost 100000 posts, so yes its young by comparison to older forums ;)... and yes... some threads run deep ;)
  • You will find that dnn 4.5 is much easier to install than previous versions
  • Again: you can forget all your php knowledge if you are starting DNN... remember: DotNet stands for ASP.NET, dnn is written (almost) completely in VB.NET, but you can write your own modules in any .NET capable language...

Please Forward to someone that can help Thanks,

Server Error in '/fastrad' Application.

Configuration Error

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

Parser Error Message: The configuration section cannot contain a CDATA or text element.

Source Error:

Line 27: </connectionStrings>
Line 28: <appSettings>
Line 29: <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=XXXXXXX;uid=sa;pwd=XXXXXXXXX;"/>
Line 30:     -->
Line 31: <add key="InstallTemplate" value="DotNetNuke.install.config" />

Source File: C:\fastrad\web.config    Line: 29   XXXXXXX password was left out on purpose

Here is my New Configuration:

SBS 2003 Premium
SQL 2005 std

All Express Visual's except sql of course
IIS 6.0

Now I am doing the best I can to follow your instructions.  I got a Great tremendous jump on this with Shuan Walkers Information.  Unfortunately I am getting the same conclusions with using the Manual way and the Web Visual Studio way.  Am I missing a step here that only the ASP Gods know about.

Yes I agree that PHPNUKE is totally different.  In a Bad way too.  I need to learn as much about this ASP nuke so I can modulate applications to some of my prospective clients 99% are NT only in persuasion.

The Problems I ran into there is no mentioning of removeing the Site SQL Name or the Providers Name.  I am really confidant the 3306 is open internally so I am baffled by the unknowingness of this project.

If there is a Conference we can setup over Teamspeak Let me know I will.

4.5 Works

http://www.newhomecomputer.net/fastrad

There are some verbage revamping that needs to be done.  But I can contest that there is easier way's to explain this.   There are difference in 2003 RC2 SBS Verses XP Pro.  DAH I should have not been just looking for the balck and white print.  Nt Authority does not exist in 2003  Networking Services Does.  Allow time for your IIS6 to refresh it's services.  Other than Loosing Sharepiont Adminstration  I feel that I can work this out.

Op to be having some modules note up to you all soon.
