Using NT Auth in 4.0.2.  after upgrade to 4.5, cannot login as any user incluuding host and admin.  When try to login as any user, redirects to home which loads with following error top center.

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

There are no admin or host tabs available when this error ocurrs.  I have verified that the machine key was copied to new config file as well as sql settings.

Got It Fixed. 

Because we were using AD for authentication it was necessary to uncomment the following line in the new web.config file in addition to the sql strings and machine info.
