Starting new intsall on local server.  Installed SQL 2005 Express, created database & user as per Installation Doc.  Changed web.config to include ServerName, DB Name, uid & pw (blank - don't no if this is ok).  When I go to the localhost/dotnetnuke - get the following error.

Could not find file 'C:\DotNetNuke\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\DotNetNuke_template.mdf'.

[FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\DotNetNuke\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\DotNetNuke_template.mdf'.]
   System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) +2014477
   System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) +488
   DotNetNuke.Data.SqlDataProvider.GetProviderPath() +220
   DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.GetUpgradeStatus() +335
   DotNetNuke.Common.Global.CheckVersion() +187
   DotNetNuke.Common.Global.Application_Start(Object Sender, EventArgs E) +316

Confirmed this file doesn't exist.  Found reference to this in the web.config file for template under SQLprovider, template.  No documentation in the install doc. to changing this value.  How can I fix this.

Thanks

I recommend you use Visual Studio if you have it and use the DOTNETNUKE Starter Kit. It makes it so much easier. If you like, I could pre-make a setup for you. All you would have to do is upload the files to your HOST or set up a virtual dir. under IIS if it's on the local PC.

Trying StarterKit method now.  Figured out some of my problems on the original post, but got stuck again on a permission error - yet all permissions for directory were set per install guide.

I'll respond if the starter kit method works easier.

That's more like it.  Installed 1st try with no errors.

Thanks

Starter kit worked, but I can only view the site from the browser on the server.  I am unable to view the page from my intranet.  I can get to the root website, but when I go to the virtual directory ( http://servername/dotnetnuke) is says page cannot be displayed.  Is this a DSN issue with database connection using SQLExpress default connection string?

I tried to do the install on my workstation using VWD Express - could not add database item to the project as SQL Express was not installed on my workstation.  I would like to be able to do development on my workstation locally and use the SQL Express on my intranet server.  Is this possible?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

SMB
