ok....I have done alot od reading on this and have tried many many time gettin the same error:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

I have followed everything in this thread and nothing seems to work??

I am trying to get dnn vs 4.3.6 on win 2003 server with sql 2000.

I have this same setup on a dev server and it installed fine.

There has got to be a simple setting somewhere to resolve this....please anyone that had this and fixed it...let me know what u did.

Hi Guys,

I'll start with in the same manner as everybody else in this thread -

I have done alot od reading on this and have tried many many time gettin the same error:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error
The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

It seems that the same problem occurs on few latest versions of DNN portal. Does anyone from core team took a look on this issue? It is really annoying to stuck on the very beggining! There must be the answer... somewhere out there. Please Help!!! Is it possible to get empty database with chema only? Is there any install logging mechanism that we can use to track down the problem?

Regards

i thought i was onto something with the permissions and roldes. I noticed that my sql 200 use did not ahve listed the aspnet roles under the user's. So i ran the aspnet_regsql.exe with -w switch. this added (be sure to restart sql services before they show.

and i set the same permissions that i see from a running dnn site i have on a different machine but still the same error....I'll keep at it thought and post if i figured it out.

Ok everyone, the problem seems to be related to the actual permission on the FILES.

I thought that by setting the root directory with full control for NETWORK SERVICE it would work, but no!

I added the group Everyone and setted it to full control and it worked!! In my case i'm using plesk so it is probably trying to use whatever user plesk use (IWPD_XX(username))

So to conclude, set the root directory of your web settings with the permission to EVERYONE on full control. If that work, install DNN then find out which user process needs it.
