New to DNN.

I tried installing the 4.5 Starter Kit with VS Basic Express and VS Web Developer Express.  After a complete DNN installation, VS would hang when I clicked on "Create New Website".  So, I removed DNN and still had the same issue.  After many attempts, I ended up restoring Windows XP from a previous checkpoint where DNN was not installed yet to get VS to not hang when trying to create a new website.

Now, I try to run the Starter Kit installation (4.5.1) and get a VSContentInstaller.exe Error:   "VSContentInstaller.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Any suggestions would be appreciated . . .

Fixed this.  I repaired .NET 2.0 and it's okay now.

okay, repairing .NET 2.0 fixed the "VSConteneInstaller.exe" error, but now VSWD hangs again when trying to "Create a New Website".  So again, any suggestions would be appreciated . . .

Now, I try to run the Starter Kit installation (5.0.0) on the Windows server 2003 machine and get a VSContentInstaller.exe Error:   "VSContentInstaller.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.". But It ran Ok on Win XP machine. Both of two machines was installed VS2005 & VS2008.

Anyone know this problem please give me a solution to solve.

Many thank

GK you don't need the startkit to install DNN. A lot of people would use the install or source version first. In fact you don't even need visual studio...
If you are new to DNN then I would not recommend this path to start off with,,, Calling it a "starter kit" can be pretty misleading to be honest.

But if you are doing development (but I would still recommend using the source version to begin with in this case) and have accessed fully that you need to use this build.... maybe you should try the 4.9.2 starter kit.,,, or even the 5.0.1 version, otherwise I'm guessing it's a problem with your VS environment.
