Please, bare with me.

Over the course of the past month, I have been teaching myself HTML and CSS, to do a couple websites as some projects.  Now, I am attempting to put a forum, using ASP.Net.  I was originally going PHP, but the web hosting company I have, does not use it.

I downloaded the DNN (latest version) and extracted on my computer.  I have the Microsoft Visual Web Developer and all proper software needed (at least, I hope).

At this point, when loading the application, I open the DNN install file.  But from here, I have no idea what do to.  I get no options to run a debug or anything.  I have NEVER done this before and have been reading and reading, but unable to find anything remotely helpful.  So I turn to the fine folks over here, in hopes someone will be kind enough to assist.

Currently, I have everything extracted on my personal computer.  I want to install the DNN, and then I will load the forum module I downloaded for DNN.  But, how do I install it using the application? After once done, how do I get it to my SQL server through my web hosting company?

I think I found a manual on here somewhere, explaining this, but lost the link and can't find it now.

Any help would be appreciated.. a lot.

Thanks!

On my website http://www.mitchelsellers.com I have a installation walk-through that will show you all setup necessary to configure IIS< setup the db, and install DNN.  That should help you out a bit to get your local installation ready.

As for your hosting provider and accessing their SQL Server it really depends on what provider you use and the level of access that they give you.

Thanks, that is GREAT help.

I believe I have full access to it, as that is what I am paying for from them.

Your site looks great and I am sure I will use it as a resource!

Regards,

Jason
