Hello,

I have done our portal with Nuke.
It's very easy and clear to do it but trying to upload exe files (seems to be an easy and normal thing because 90% dei files are in this format when you send a trial programm or some files that anybody needs to install) I receive this message

"Le fichier d:\Inetpub\webs\DNN2685\Portals\0\programmes et version\boutyk v35.exe est d’un format restreint. Les formats valides incluent ( *. swf, *.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.gif, *.bmp, *.png, *.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.pdf, *.txt, *.xml, *.xsl, *.css, *.zip ). Contactez votre Hébergeur si vous avez besoin d’utiliser ce type de document sur votre site."

It's in FRENCH but asks you to contact the hosting provider to "open" this action.

When I ask to my provider (www.aruba.it in ITALY) they give me the same list as the one you see saying that this kind of files are not supported by NUKE !

Is it possible that an exe file is not supported ??

How can I upload this kind of file ?

I thank you for all ideas and comments about it.

david

This is configurable at the host level:
- log in as host
- go to Host -> Settings
- (don't remember the actual section) you'll find the allowed extions list here. Add whatever extensions you need

Many thanks for your information but can you help telling me HOW can I log in as HOST ?

From where ?

I have NUKE through my provider and I create a portal site where I enter as administrator  (my role ) (first login).
As administrator I enter also in the file explorer integrated in NUKE to upload files (and it's from this section that I receive the message for the exe file).
Asking the provider they tell me that the extensions are limited and that it's not possible to modify or put another one (I think that they don't know very well this problem).
For me it seems a real problem because .exe files are more than 80% of the files I need to upload on the portal (module document)

If you can help me telling how can i do it will be a real help for my work at this moment !

best regards

David

David,
DotNetNuke provides two levels of admistration: admin for portal maintenance and "host" for installation wide administration.
You have to ask if you have access to the host user, maybe you don't on your provider installation. It's possible that they only gave you admin user.
If that's the problem, I think what they're saying you is that they will not  add .exe to the supported extension list (I think that mainly for securitly reasons: virus, ...).
Otherwise you might want to try sending this link to them:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/About/DotNetNukeOnlineHelp/tabid/787/TID/39/cid/63/Default.aspx
Here is how to find that setting.

If you get the host user, just contact using it and change the setting for yourself as I explained on my first post.

The only other option is zipping the exe files before uploading.
