I upgraded my site from 4.4.1 to 4.5.2 with the upgrade package.

I followed my regular written routine, using WinMerge on the release.config. I have also double checked the resulting web.config in VS 2005 and I'm pretty sure it is correct.

The install process went without errors. The site will not load, when attaching Fiddler I see 1000's of sessions being created. I found that the HTML module was not in the package, so I installed by putting it into the /Install/Module folder. This was also installed without errors.

Should there be a install.log file I can check?

How can I debug this urgent situation?

I appreciate any help with this.

Thaks ArntK

Leupold, I couldn't do that because of another app on the server. I did stop and start the website in IS though.

I'm now back up on 4.4.1 and will try too upgrade again to night. I can then restart the server if necessary.

Do you have any tips, how to proceed if the same thing happen to night?

Thanks
ArntK

  • make sure, IIS compression is disabled during upgrades
  • check the DNN download page for an updated version tonight
  • sorry, no other tips currently.

Leupold, thanks for the tips.

I tried again last night with 4.5.3, but same result also after restart of server. This time I also tried with FireFox and it promtly stated: "The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    *   This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept"
          cookies.

I checked my host header and the PortalAlias table, but all was intact.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks
ArntK
