Hey all, if you had to start a new environment from scratch, would you take 4.0 because it's the newer/better/faster/.net2/somethingelse ? Or go for 3.x because of modulesavailable/stability/support?

I'm choosing 4.0 for three reasons:

1) It's based on ASP.NET 2.0.

2) It has AJAX support.

3) I had trouble upgrading from 3.x to 4.0, and my 3.x content was minimal, so I'd rather go with a fresh install of 4.0.

Are the 3.x modules compatible with 4.x?  Is 4.x backwards compatible?  I too am not sure where to start here.  I have 3.2.2 running on a test machine and love it, but I don't have much invested in it yet.  I want to know if I should get 4.x and start learning more and more on it.  Won't it run on any ASP.NET 2.0 enabled host as long as I have a MsSQL database?

Personally, I would stick with DNN 3.x for now.  Though the team has done some great work in getting 4.0.2 out there, I just don't see that many production sites using DNN 4.x yet.  Most seem to be either on 3.1.1 or 3.2.2.

My two cents...

I've come across "AJAX" on several sites, but don't fully comprehend what it's about..could you elaborate?

And thanks to others for supplying info, i'm still collecting pro's and conn's! (i.e. ; I haven't built enough to be worth keeping )
