When setting up a fresh installation of DNN 4.5.3, an inexplicable error message shows up in the "run database installation scripts" page and the installation stalls.

Screenshot:
http://www.amosolson.com/dnnerror.jpg

Error text:
Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...Upgrading Database to Version ERROR: See D:\websites\69.20.84.96\cantap\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\04.04.00.log for more information...FAILURE 400 - Conversion from string "ERROR: See D:websites9" to type 'Integer' is not valid.

This is NOT an upgrade.  This is the DNN Install package uploaded into a fresh application directory.

The file "04.04.00.log" does NOT exist on the server.  Only the 3 standard .log files are there.

Has anyone encountered or fixed this yet?

Yes - I have received this error quite a few times until I started over, manually configured my web.config file and used the "AUTO" selection of the Install Wizard. I have not had any problems since.

Good luck,

Mike

Thanks mikekist!

I passed that problem by your way but there is a problem with some link button like 2 button at bottom of Host Setting page (Update & Restart Application). They didn't do any response to my action. That buttons call the method WebForm_DoPostBackWithOptions( ).

Is this happening with most or all update buttons throughout your site (admin settings, etc.)? A while back I was not able to update anything where the javascript code was attached to the linkbutton. The problem turned out to be that I did not have aspnet_client folder in my website. This folder carries some specific ASP.NET code that is required and if your webhost doesn't specifically make it available you might have to add it in manually. I found a copy on my local machine in the c:\inetpub\wwwroot directory and copied it to my root directory of my website. All of the linkbuttons started working again and I haven't had any problems since.

I hope that this is the case with your installation as well - Good luck,

Mike
