Hello,

I'm trying to install DNN 4.5 but it won't work.
I'm using the intallation type.

I followed these instructions:

Second, create a Virtual Directory in IIS called DotNetNuke which points to the directory where the DotNetNuke.vbproj file exists.  Ensure that you have default.aspx specified as a Default Document for your Virtual Directory.  Depending on your choice of database you must have the necessary software installed on your server and you must create the database:

** MS Access ( default ) -- You need to ensure you have the latest Microsoft JET 4.0 Database Engine installed (browse to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=239114) The database file ( DotNetNuke.mdb.resources ) will be created automatically.

But when I browse (IE) to my the directory (http://127.0.0.1/DotNetNuke/) I get the following message:

HTTP-fout 404.3 - Not Found

Fysiek pad: C:\DotNetNuke\Default.aspx

Is there anybody who can help me?

Nico,

You must be using very old directions because MSSQL (Express) is the current default database for DotNetNuke while MS Access has not been supported for quite a long while. I would suggest downloading the DotNetNuke 4.4.1 Docs file under the DotNetNuke 4.4.1 Heading, unzipping and reading through the "DotNetNuke Installation Guide.pdf" for most current directions as well as reading some of the tutorial posts on installation.

Although I don't read your native language, it really looks like a permissions issue and you do not mention configuring your installation root folder for Network Service (Windows 2003/Vista) or ASPNET permissions.

Good luck,

Mike

Actually those are the instructions from the FAQs on this site.  Question #4 in the Installation Section.

I am stuck too.  I cannot figure out what directory to point to when I try to follow this part: "Second, create a Virtual Directory in IIS called DotNetNuke which points to the directory where the DotNetNuke.vbproj file exists."  I don't seem to have a DotNetNuke.vbproj file.

Guess I'll try an older version.

One other point in case anyone reads this stuff...  the site talks about 4.5 but the files all download as 4.05.

I'm not really sure where the FAQs are located containing this information. If you could let me know I would appreciate it.

First I would download the DotNetNuke Installation Guide.pdf located in the DotNetNuke 4.4.1 Docs zip file under DotNetNuke 4.4.1 heading on the download page. It explains everything pretty well with graphics and makes the setup look easy. The only difference in version 4.5.3 is the Installation Wizard and there is a good video on that. You can find this by going to the blog page and locating Jim Brinkman's DotNetNuke Featured Videos about half way down.

When you do set up your installation you unzip the "Install" files into a directory you will be using to run DotNetNuke. This is the directory they are talking about. In IIS when you set up your virtual directory you locate and point to this folder. When you click on your virtual directory in IIS you should see the admin folder, bin folder, etc and the files from the unzipped installation. You must also right-click this folder go to properties and click on the Security tab, click edit then add to add either NETWORK SERVICE account for Windows 2003/Vista of ASPNET account for the other operating systems then give the accounts full controll - click Apply (you really only need read, write & modify but full is easier if security is not a problem).

In the DotNetNuke community version 4.05.03 and version 4.5.3 are interchangeable referring to the same version.

I hope I wasn't too long-winded for you.

Good luck,

Mike

Thanks for the reply Mike.  It's not so long-winded.

The FAQs are available through the top right text menu (above the red icon menu) in the Resources item, sub-item Documentation.  Here's a link.
