Just thought I would post a pain saver for anyone else who might see this issue.  When I installed dotnetnuke following the install instructions when I got to the part where you browse to the website to initiate the install, I would just get a 404 error.

After failing around with it for a while, checking everything I could think of I figured out that it was nothing to do with DotNetNuke.  I was actually a problem with the .NET2.0 framework on the server. I ran the .NET2.0 install again from "add remove programs" and ran the "repair" option.  That fixed the issue straight away.

Hope that helps someone out oneday.

Cheers

Thanks Shampson,

You helped me out, had the same issue. Another hint for me was that ASP.NET 2.050727 Web Service Extension was not present.

Ran the .NET2.0 repair and had to reboot to complete the repair process. After reboot the ASP.NET 2.050727 Web Service Extension was visible, changed it to Allow and the DNN install initiated....
