Hi Guys and Gals :)

Was about to sign up with EasyCGI to start the DNN learning process, but had some questions.

EasyCGI uses a script that installs DNN version 4.5.0 , which is not the most current. Should this be something to be concerned about?

In particular I want to run the Forums application - any issue with the 'slightly' older version of DNN?

Can I upgrade the installed version of DNN at my hosted website - or am I at the mercy of EasyCGI to support this?

All feedback prior to signing up would be good... dont want to find myself in a corner

Cheers

Brit

Answers: No, No, Yes/No

OK  - all installations of DotNetNuke are upgradeable so the version 4.5.0 is OK. According to the DotNetNuke download page the newest forums module version 03.20.09 will run on all instances of DNN version 3.03.05 / 4.03.05 and newer. EasyCGI might be a good company with some DotNetNuke expertise but the drawback I see is that they don't provide the required MSSQL database unless you subscribe to the Advanced X4 account at $21.56/month. I think you could probably do something a little more inexpensive at least until you become more familiar with dotnetnuke. My host at hostingchannel.net charges $22/year although only 1 gb of space but you do get the MSSQL database as well. Their support staff might not be quite as knowledgeable about DNN but they are very helpful.

I think with the help of the dotnetnuke community - you can do well no matter where you go.

Good luck,

Mike
