Hi fellow DNN users,

I have successfully got DNN to run on my own local server, but now I want to run on a remotely hosted server.

So, I upload the files to the server via FTP as you would, do the web.config, etc etc...
In the Plesk Control Panel, as used by my hosting provider, I have changed ASP.Net to Version 2.

Now I try and start install by accessing my website, but all I get is Server Error in '/home' Application,
and all the stuff about editing your web.config. No matter what I change the CustomError setting to... nothing changes.

I am well-aware that Plesk CP provides an option to install DNN and I have used it many times before, but this particular provider has chosen to delete all of those options from their server. Since this is our company website I had to choose this provider as it is the only ASP provider locally, for tax and accounting issues. So changing hosting provider sadly isnt an option.

So it would be great if someone can give me some pointers as to how to install DNN on a remotely hosted server with all required specs and software. Without desktop access.

I live in GMT +8:00 time zone. If anyone is willing to offer me help via MSN, that'd be great also.

If your changes to custom errors are not making any difference then most likely the ASP.NET version is not actually being changed.

I would submit a request to your hosting provider to ENSURE that the proper ASP.NET version is enabled.
