Hi there... We use 2.1.2 at work as our intranet and have a couple of live sites running on it as well... it's still in pretty heavy use, but after playing with 4.x for a while now, I think we could benefit with an upgrade to use the newer features.  Before I start this project though, has anyone successfully upgraded from DNN 2.1.2?  If so, what steps did you have to take?  I'm having a hard time finding documentation out there except for some postings here & there.  Is it really as simple as throwing 3.x on there, then moving it up to 4.x?  Are there very specific versions I should be looking for when upgrading?

Second major question is will all content come over correctly, such as webcontent, usernames/passwords and skins?  What will, what won't?

Before I go braking my back, I was wondering if any of you have attempted this, and what the gotchas are.  :)  Thanks very much in advance!

Take care,
Mike

I have completed a few 2.x -> 4.x migrations and many 3.x to 4.x migrations with minimal problems

You will want to be sure to set aside time for testing to ensure that all modules/skins work correclty in the new version since so much has changed in the days since 2.x.

I have a guide on my website that covers the 3.x -> 4.x migration which should help you out.

Also, given your version I do recommend doing a 3 step upgrade. 2.x -> 3.0 (early 3.x version) -> 3.3.7 -> 4.5.3, this is to ensure that you get each major version upgrade done separatley to then control the amount of db and other changes along the way.
