I'm having a problem with installing DNN 4.02:

I have a windows 2003 server enterprise edition, SQL 2005, IIS 6, pretty standard stuff.
I followed the manual, created the database, users, the virtual server for DotNetNuke, made sure the default document for the server was default.aspx, but when I now open the site (http://localhost) it just gives me a standard 404 message. The same thing happens if I try /Install/install.aspx?mode=install.

I off course checked the paths, configured the web.config file, and so on. All according to the manual and beyond that, since it is not really complete.

Does someone have any idea what i've missed?

I have to say that it looks like your Virtual Directory is not pointing correctly at your physical location for the site.

Most people create a Virtual Directory "DotNetNuke" and point that at the physicl install loaction, and then access that using http://localhost/dotnetnuke rather than installing it in the root of the IIS Server.

Are there any instructions on how to install DNN in the root of a website?
