I am looking to install DNN with sql 2000 on my friends machine (windows 2003, he runs his own server not with any host) few thousand miles away from me. I need to know how I can do that.. I have worked on DNN many times on shared hosts which gives clean control panel to work with. I tried to ask him to give me remote access for his website folder and database with ftp but nither does he knows how to do it nor do I.

I need help in figuring out how to take access to his server and do the installation.

Thanks

you need remote desktop connection to the web server, to install necessary software, configure web site and database.

Thanks!

I managed to get into the server using remote desktop client.

Whats next? Should I go ahead and create database? Where should I install Dotnetnuke?

Thanks.

please refer to the installation guide available at resources >> documentation here on dotnetnuke.com

you need to unzip the DotNetNuke install package to a local folder, set security, create a web site in IIS, pointing to this folder (with a name server entry for the domain name, pointing to the server) and call the site.
