I'm attempting to upgrade an old version of dnn (4.0.3) to any newer version.   I've tried to do the upgrade to 4.5.5, 4.4.1, and 4.3.7.

The upgrade attempts report successful, but when I hit the portal, I get an "Object Reference Not Set to an Instance of an Object" error that seems to haves something to do with the Membership Provider.  An help would be much appreciated.

Did you adjust also the web.config? If not, please compare release.config with your web.config

That was it!  I missed a change in the web.config.  When I corrected it, everything working swimmingly.  Thanks a bunch, especially for your quick response.
