I started over earlier this afternoon on a clean machine.

I loaded IIS.

I loaded the .NET Framework ver. 1.1.

I loaded an older version of MSDE.

I unzipped the DNN ver. 3.2.2 to C:\dotnetnuke.

I modified the security perms for C:\dotnetnuke such that the local ASP.NET user and the local IUSR accounts had FULL Control on C:\dotnetnuke.

I put a web.config file in C:\dotnetnuke.

I went into IIS and created a virtual directory called dotnetnuke and pointed it to C:\dotnetnuke.

I went into Access and created a New Project and it came up with the connection box and I left the server as (local), I checked the checkbox for Trusted Connection (so then the username/password fields went gray), and I named the database dotnetnuke.  And this database was created in C:\dotnetnuke.

When I go to IE and type my url – http://localhost/dotnetnuke I get a white page with the dotnetnuke logo on it and underneath it, it says:

Error Installing DotNetNUke

Current Assembly Version 03.02.02

Error:  Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

Does anyone have any ideas?  I still need help.

Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider -

Is the actual connection string correct - I would assume (local) should be, but sometimes sql responds to different settings.

Did you put your user name in the SQL user table?  I needs permission there too.

Sometimes for ease of installation - I do the following

I add the aspnet rolel to the sql user table and give it read/write permissions - the top two boxes

Then instead of using the user name and password, I delete that and replace with Trusted_Connection="True"

It might depend on your configuration, but this could also work for you.
