I just finished installing 4.5.5 in a virtual directory under an existing DNN install.

The error i get is listed in the topic.

Parser Error Message: The code subdirectory '/Ar/App_Code/HTML/' does not exist.

I unzipped the install file, is there anything else I need to do.

make sure, the virtual user has permission to create subdirectories in /App_Code. The directory should gets created during installation of tne Text/HTML module.

To solve your situation:

  1. Re-unzip the the HTML installation file in /install/module folder
  2. remove the code subdirectory entry in web.config
  3. call /install/install.aspx?mode=installResources

Thanks for the tips.

I did the above and it still doesn't work. What i've noticed though is that it's reading from the web.config in the main site, rather than the one in the virutal directory. What could be the cause of this?

I've set it up so that the virtual directory is contained inside the website and set as an application.

I am doing this so i can have two instances of the dnn for language purposes which are too intensive for certain modules to handle.

ie. mysite and mysite/ar

I've had the same (and numerous others) problem as you trying to install/configure DNN. Just hope it's easier to actually create portals with!

I think your problem is one of permissions. Despite giving MACHINENAME/ASPNET full permission on my site root folder the child folders did not inherit this setting so therefore the installation routine cannot access the database or create the HTML folder. Try actually creating the HTML folder manually and see if it gets you any further.

In the end I went to the Advanced Security Settings tab and forced all child folders to have the same permissions for MACHINENAME/ASPNET as my root folder.

Was originally using DNN on XP Home with VWD 2005 Express and SQL Express and got on OK.
Decided to go to XP Pro, IIS and SQL Express to make life easier - instead the nightmare started!

Anyway, hope this helps!
