Besides me, is anyone that has installed DotnetNuke on GoDaddy having problems displaying the avatars in the forum. It uploads them just fine, I find them in the server directory, but it will not display them. Just wondering if this is another GoDaddy glitch.

Updated the isntructions for installing the latest version of the DNN Framework (4.3.3).  There is an additional folder that needs to be created before hand.  The App_Code folder needs to be given read and write permissions.

I have noticed that many people are running into an issue from not preparing their web.config file.  Hosting providers such as Go Daddy do not allow the root directory to be directly written to by Asp.Net.  As the web.config file sits in the root directory, it cannot be written to.  In order to solve this problem you need to prepare your web.config.  Currently the easiest way is to perform a local install and then use that web.config file.  I am still working on a utility to automate the web.config alterations however currently chasing down a bug with it.

Hi

you might want to try this walk through, it worked for me

http://www.virtual-essentials.com/DotNetNuke/GoDaddyInstallation/GoDaddyInstallationPreInstallInfoPartI/tabid/76/Default.aspx

After re-reading these instructions they do have some good merit to them, however please note that if you do change the customErrorsMode to OFF you should reset it to RemoteOnly once the installation is complete.

Hi Michael!  I installed godaddy's 4.0.2 value applications successfully, but it apparently has several bugs - I was told that I needed to upgrade to 4.3.3 by my custom skin designer (although, he wouldn't upgrade FOR me) because the skins/containers wouldn't upload properly in 4.0.2.  SO, I contacted godaddy and they will not upgrade to 4.3.3 for me because 4.0.2 is their only supported version - instead they suggested that I uninstill 4.0.2, and manually install 4.3.3 to my ftp.  In lehman's terms - I'm extremely new to DNN, and I just want to know how to do a fresh install of 4.3.3 to godaddy.  So, can you confirm that if I follow these instructions linked above, and reset the customErrorsMode to RemoteOnly once the installation is complete, that I will have successfully installed 4.3.3 to my godaddy host?  ANY help - even if I need to hire someone to do this for me - will be most helpful.

I am not Michael... is usually is pretty busy... but first you need to uninstall the 4.0.2. The current version is 4.3.4 not 4.3.3.
Next you need to install it onto an SQL database, and NOT MySQL database so you need to have at least the DELUXE Hosting Plan. It you do not... then you are stuck with 4.0.2 or you need to upgrade your hosting account.

Thank  you so much for your speedy response!  I have uninstalled 4.0.2.  I am willing to upgrade to DELUXE - but which one?
