So I just downloaded and installed (from the source package) 4.5.5 on a Windows 2003 Server that has never seen DNN before.

After going through the install instructions choosing custom and then manually selecting all modules to install I got an error on the page (didn't write it down) and installation couldn't proceed it just kept asking me to select a module.  Even unselecting all modules and attempting to continue didn't help.

So I cancelled the installation, deleted the DNN database and recreated it, and recopied the WebSite directory and tried again.

This time I chose the "Typeical" install which gets me through without errors and I see the default portal.

My problem now is that when I attempt to log in as "host" or 'admni" I simply go back to the Home page....There is no Admin or Host menu and there is nothing in the top right hand corner of the portal indicating I am logged in.  I know that some sort of "login" process has taken place since if I purposes screw up the pasword it gives me a log in error.

So my question is - where is the Host/Admin menues?

I have read the posted here and restarted IIS (ResetIIS) and have "tweaked" the web.config file but nothing I try gets me those menus?  Also I looked that the USERS table and the SuperUser flag is set for the 'host' account.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,

Rod

Sebastian

Thanks for the idea but it didn't work.

The Admin and Host menu options aren't there and neither is any sign at the top that I am logged in as host.  Just the Home screen exactly as it was after I try to login.  Again, however, if I type a wrong password for the host or admin accounts I get a password error message, so I know some form of authentication is being attempted.

Any other ideas?

I am wondering if it has anything to do with the ASPNET provider being used.  I haven't changed any of this in the config that came with DNN 4.4.5 but doesn't look right?

Thanks,
Rod

I having a similar problem after upgrade from 4.5.3 to 4.5.5.  It is only the Host user that is having problems, I am getting the admin user for some reason but not the host.

Clearing the cookies didn't work and there are no corresponding events in the event log.
