I've installed DotNetNuke 4.6.0 on a VMWARE image, OS is win 2003.

The site works fine from within the vmware image (http://localhost/myPortal/Default.aspx), but when I try to reach the same site from my desktop, (where the image is installed), I get the classic message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I use the following URL http://10.0.0.3/myPortal/Default.aspx.

myPortal is a virtual  directory in IIS6, pointing at c:\solution\myPortal\WebSite\

I can reach other websites on the same vmware image from outside, just not myPortal.

I guess this has something to do with permissions, but I can't figure it out.

Does anyone know what might cause this? Thanks!

This issue is now resolved by adding a new portal alias

To expand upon the solution (since I had the same problem), going to Admin-Site Settings-Portal Aliases showed only localhost/dotnetnuke, thus allowing access from the host but not from remote machines.  Add Portal Alias, machinename/dotnetnuke allows remote systems to access site.
