Hi, I'm installing DNN at markasquith.co.uk. Everything seems to be going fine, I have the db set up and populated, the install package has run itself successfully but when I head to the site I get this:

This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

I've scoured the forums and it seems to be the issue is permissions into the entire site, I need to grant read/write etc access to all the directories. Thing is, when I use an ftp client to check, all the folders have  the correct access set.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

Please see below for a discussion I had with my hosts, PipeTen.  It's doing my head in now!  the forums have been very quiet too so I'm not holding much hope for the DNN lark.

A: Hi Mark,
I'd try adding a Directory Index for default.aspx or whatever DNN uses as it's default file for directories: http://h-sphere.pipeten.com/html/manipulating_pages.html#directory_indexes

Any problems or questions just let us know.

Best Regards,
Carl

Q: Hi Carl

Tried that, didn't work. Anything else it might be?

A: You are getting that error because there is no default file including default.aspx to load in that folder. You need to add whatever filename you want to load to the directory indexes.

It looks like it might be installwizard.aspx but I'm only guessing as the following seems to load fine.

http://www.markasquith.co.uk/install/installwizard.aspx

Q: Hi Gavin

The install wizard page does load, but that's is literally just the install wizard, as it's already installed that's kinda redundant now. From looking at the documentation it seems that Default.aspx should be the initial page but I can't get it to point at that even with the indexing. It even redirects me when I manually type in www.markasquith.co.uk/default.aspx

Cheers

A: Hi Mark,

We cannot provide support for their actual software. You will have to contact the software developers to find out why it is still redirecting you, it is not anything to do with the actual server that is doing it sorry.

A: Hi Mark,
It looks like DNN doesn't realise you've finished the install (quote possibly the last step tried to visit a directory without the default index and thus didn't update that the install had finished). We have lots of users using DNN without issue however we can't help you set it up (we can only deal with server related problems).

Any problems or questions just let us know.

Best Regards,
Carl
