I upgraded from 4.5.3 to 4.6.2 and the behavior in my event viewer is a little different.  It only captures the IP if the login was a failure.  This may be by design but I am not sure so I thought I would add it here for now until I get some clarification.

Hi Paul;

I can confirm that your experience has been replicated.  In addition, I was able to determine that "Password Sent Success" and "Password Sent Failure" also disclose the IP address, as before.  The big change in 4.6.2 is that the IP address is no longer available for "Login Success" and "Login Supervisor" --- both of which are expected and hopefully will be re-instated.

Thank you.

It's posted here: http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=6423

I bet the team, based on my last experience, will come back with one of the following:

  1. Can't re-produce the error
  2. Not an issue to the Core Team, won't fix
  3. It was an issue, now it's fixed in the next forthcoming release, but we won't admit there was a problem in the first place (big grin)

Cheers.

Wow.  I lost a bet with myself.  Charles Nurse and crew actually fixed the error!

Per Charles Nurse:  "The issue was that the IPAddress wasn't initialised correctly in the new Login control."

The fix will be included in the DNN 4.7 release.

Regards,

  Jud
