Guys, I've just written to the dev team via E-mail, but while I wait for a response, possibly someone here has already come across the issue and is able to provide advice.

We cannot allow DBO to a user in the database in our shared hosting infrastructure for security reasons, but we can simulate this access by adding ddl_securityadmin role - the user can then grant execute to themselves on stored procedures, which is essentially all that is required by the application.

But the install script only checks for DBO, rather than the access on actual tasks that it needs to function.

I've requested information on whether or not it'd be possible to modify the install script to skip DBO access check and replace with check for ddl_securityadmin or something to that effect.

Has anyone had any experience with getting around this issue meanwhile? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Angelina Potapova

in the install wizard you can specify the databaseOwner, that is written into Web.config (section sqlserver near the end) and used for any subsequent ownership.

I suggest to read as well the "Hardening DotNetNuke Security" Guide from the "Security Bulletins" page in News menu above.
