I am having permissions issues on my website.

Can someone please provide me with the correct authentication settings for IIS 6.0?

IIS 6.0 >> Website >> Properties >> Directory Security >> Authentication and Access  == What should be set here?

I have already verified the network service has the proper permissions recommended by the documentation... please help!!

Accepted Answer
  1. Check "Enable Anonymous Access" and choose the IUSR_<MACHINENAME> account.  Leave the password blank.
  2. Check the "Integrated Windows Authentication" checkbox.
  3. Click OK to back out and save your settings.

As long as you do not have any application needs that reside outside of the ordinary circumstances, those settings should work.

Also.  Where you added permissions for Newtwork Service on the folder for the site, make sure there is a check on the box for  "Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to the object and all child objects".   Under folder properties -> Security -> Advanced.   May need to set this and replace permissions for child folders on the site.

the IUSR account does not need much to run properly.  Just standard read write access, but not modify.
