I have two instances of DotNetNuke setup.
One for development and one for production.
Both are Version 4.6.02
I want to have development as an open playground for users to setup and develop their sites / pages.
I have everything setup the way i want but i have one issue.

How do i migrate what they develop from development to production without migrating the entire instance of DotNetNuke?
I need to be able to ether migrate a whole page or module by module.

I've search the forums but isn't have much luck finding what i needed.
Is there currently a way to do this or does anyone know of a module to do this?

Thanks
Jason

There isn't a way to do this right now.  Also, I do not know of any 3rd party tools or services that offer this specific feature.  However, this process in theory, can be easy.  But it really isn't.  In theory, all you have to do is copy the DB records to the production web site.  There are QSL tools that can do this for you, but most people asking for this type of functionality are more interested in moderating content as it goes out.  Unfortunately, this is the part where the theory becomes a huge project.

I am afraid that something like this might need to be built.

DNNCreative Magazine has a new issue out today that addresses some of these issues.  Other issues are addressed in an earlier issue.

Nice catch, Joe!  Here is the latest article:

But he is using Red Gate Software to do it.  (Which really is a good - but pricey - idea)

Unfortunately, the easiest thing to do is have a seperate DNN installation for each Portal, If you wish to migrate changes through different environments.

It seems that DNN is not built that way. It would be quite a project to create something to make these types of migrations possible.

It would be good because we are currently in the same situation, and have opted for the keep it simple approach, while it is definately not the most efficient, it will be the easiest to maintain, although upgrading DNN would be a chore once you have a lot of DNN installations for each web-site you are currently looking after.

I wouldn't know where to start, but simplest would be a Database name related to the portalalias which links to a seperate database that holds all the content for that portal.

Like I said, a big change for the DNN architecture. It is a shame that you can't execute code in web.config. that way you could point to different DNN databases depending on the domain name.
