I am a new DNN user - one week only. My host provider provided the install for DNN core 3.2; not understanding then how limiting that would be when I wanted to work with store, BLOG, and Forum modules, I began creating my website and I now have 40 to 50 pages. After working with the core product and developing all of those pages I wanted the really cool stuff - forum, BLOG, Store. That is when I discovered how old DNN core 3.2 really is!
I continued to slog through and added store module 1.x that would work with DNN core 3.2 - I have a few things set-up in store now. I also installed old versions of forum and BLOG - but I have not done anything other than install these old versions. Then I started reading about the new release of forum which looks great and is exactly what I need for my website. From reading the forum I understand that the new release will only run on DNN Core 4.4 or higher. I went back to my host provider and asked about updating DNN core to 4.4 - they didn't really answer my question - they said they could support DNN core 4.3, but not DNN core 4.6. My first question is:
1) Does DNN core 4.4 and DNN core 4.3 have the same environment requirements? In other words, if my host can support DNN core 4.3 can they support DNN core 4.4?
2) How do I upgrade to DNN core 4.4? 'When I go to the dotnetnuke website I see information related to a lot of versions, but not to DNN core 4.4. Can you point me in the right direction.
2 a) Is it a one-step process to upgrade from DNN core 3.2 to DNN core 4.4? Or, do I have to do several upgrades to get to DNN core 4.4?
3. I installed old versions of store, forum, and BLOG - Can I simply deleted forum and blog (I have not done any work with them yet) and install newer versions of these modules or should I upgrade them? I have done set-up in store - it is about 3 hours worth of work - should I delete version 1.x and install store 2.x new or should I upgrade store 1.x to store 2.x? I'm not live yet with this website and but I want to avoid major complication and/or issues - a goal I am sure we all have!
I hope someone can help me because I really need some guidance on these issues.
