Hi Everybody

I have a problem, most likely with the IIS settings, but I can't get it working. I copied a live DNN 3.2 installation to a virtual machine (both files and DB worked well). When accessing the site on the local PC I get an error that the *.dlls can't be found

The problem is that at the live site (the provider created for me) the files are located in htdocs/badminton/dnn/bin and not as the local site is looking for in /htdocs/bin. But where can I change this setting where the system is looking for the assemblies? I took over the web.config from the remote machine as well and only changed the server to access the right local database.

So I guess the question is really: How do I change the appbase?

Best regards Tom

Are you using DNN 3? Because if you're not, you need to set the asp.net version to 2.0 in IIS. It's on asp.net 1.1 now.

Yes. It's DNN3. That is the reason why I want to make a local copy, because I want to safely try to upgrade it to DNN4

Any ideas about the Appbase?

Sorry, only now I noticed you posted DNN 3.2

I have seen this problem before, and indeed mostly after copying the site from another machine. I can't find how it got solved, so it was probably the mysterious category "Restart IIS, reboot if that doesn't help, and pray a bit while waiting..."

I know... not very satisfying answer, is it?

Ah, I think your message crossed mine .

Personally I don't have a clue about the appbase. What I do know is that it should work as easy as copying stuff to local, configuring the virtual folder, setting the file permissions and changing the connectstrings to get things working locally.

HAve you tried restarting IIS?
