I just upgraded from 4.5.5. to 4.7.0.  I can login with my host account just fine...  so long as I do not click "Remember Me"  If I click "Remember Me" the site redirects to the home page and I do not get logged in.

I have taken these steps, per other posts in the forums (but nothing changes)

  • I have deleted all my cookies in IE
  • I have lowered my security settings for the website in question
  • I have altered this web.config statement accordingly: <add key="PersistentCookieTimeout" value="60" />

Any other thoughts or suggestions on this?  thanks in advance.

Once you login successfully is there anything specific in the Event Viewer?

Which version of IE are you using?  Have you tried using FireFox?

I am using Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.1  I have tried the website on 3 different computers and the behavior is the same, regardless.  The behavior does not occur in Mozilla Firefox.  I have tried deleting cookies, turning off security settings in IE, I have edit timeouts in web.config.  Out of tricks.

The problem happens in DNN 4.4.1; It occured even aftert I upgrade the website to DNN 4.7.0.

I created a fresh installation of 4.7.0 on this new server and the behavior initially occurred in IE but now does not occur.

Okay, I've spent literally two full nights on this one, searching the forums, google, yahoo, dozens of pages deep.  I originally changed the persistentcookietimeout setting, but it didn't help things at all.  Moreover, I was able to clicked "remember me" checkbox on a brand new install and it has worked fine.  Only my upgraded sites were not working.  Perhaps I needed to restart the application under host settings?

This time I went into IIS and edited the web.config file through there... and instead of using "60" I used "600000" for the number (see post below)

"PersistentCookieTimeout" value="600000" />
