Hi there, I'm nearing the end of a build that has a lot of tweaks done to the language files, module code (mostly layout stuff) and other things. What I need to do now is replicate the site and Im wondering if this will work:

1, Copy the entire local site folder to a new local folder after logging into the site and setting a HTTP for the new sites domain name

2, Get my hosting company to make a copy of the database and rename it

3, In the new local site folder update the connection string to match the new database name and login details

4, FTP the new site up to the new hosting space

The end result would be identical websites running in two different hosting accounts. Once this is done I can then start changing the skin and content of the new site. This is because the two sites are basically the same but pitched at two different audiences.

Would this work? If not, is there a better way to do this.

Thanks very much

Looks like you have all the steps.

Couple of things.

1. This will also copy all of the existing users, so you may have some cleanup to do there.
2. Don't forget proper folder permissions on the new site (for DNN).
3. It would be a good idea to get all of your necessary site aliases (domain names, IP addresses, etc) into the PortalAlias table BEFORE making the backup.  Otherwise your new site may not answer you right away... *grin*

Cheers,
Scott
