I have the same error as above when I try it run a new web app with the nuke template.  I'm running 4.0.2 with SQL Server 2000 under VS2005.

The error points back to a Web.config which is blank and not really in the app.  Where is the file coming from?

I think I've figured out the problem here.  My Web.config file was not replaced by the release.config file as it should have been.  I'm guessing I must have ran the app before I renamed the release.config to web.config and so VS created a default web.config file, but it was blank.  I think I got lost during the installation instructions and got one step out of order that has been causing all kinds of havoc.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue as above, but I thought I would share my finding.
