Trying to install DNN 4.7 at discountasp.net.  Followed yours and their instructions to the letter. Verified connection string by connecting remotely via SQL Admin.  Spent several hours this site looking a the posts. Lots of similiar posts but no answers. Here is the error I am getting.  HELP!!!!! I am about to come to the conclusion that you CAN'T host DNN at discountasp.net. Corporate is the folder I created and set to an application under my root folder of the site.

Is anyone moderating this forum?  It has been approximately 24 hours since I posted my question.  I was planning on using DNN for three of our corporate websites but if it is this buggy and no one will respond to the posts then this product is not suitable for professional applications.

People are moderating but no one is held responsible to answer your question. It's also the Christmas holiday stateside and that may have an impact on how responsive people are.

DNN is a very functional framework - so I know it's not too buggy to work for you. Have you made any progress on this or moved on? I'll be happy to step you through the process and help get it working if needed.

Thanks

i actually got the same problem as your inpatient friend.

trying to install a DNN website for the first time. there have already been some installations on our test-server. i'm just trying to do it again on my own.

so i followed the setup instructions, altered the permission to access and change the DNN root folder and below, had to copy DotNetNuke.config to this root directory in order to have a valid path (hat to dashes in front of the filename before) and am now getting the same error message as him.

Things to check:
- Are you running ASP.net 2.0 on the webserver?
- can the webserver lookup the specified host for the sql-server?
- is the file-structure on the server ok? The whole filestructure should be 100% the same as the structure in the install-zip file.
- Is the home-folder of the DNN-application set as an IIS-application-folder?

Succes,

Jan-Pieter
(not a DNN-guru, I have my own problems at the moment with DNN 4.8..., but very happy with the DNN framework and support of the DNN community!)
