I downloaded and successfully configured a new installation of 4.8 on my WinXP Pro laptop which is running SQL2005. I performed the exact same steps on my personal desktop machine with the only difference being it runs SQL2005 Express. The install wizard runs fine until the database section. The Test Database Connection link works fine. I did not check the checkboxes for Integrated Security and Run as db Owner (I also used a "prefix - Object Qualifier - of v480_) but when I click the Next button, I get the following error at the bottom of the page:

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 16
Number: 2714
Message: There is already an object named 'dnn480userv480_GetDatabaseVersion' in the database.

I tried the whole procedure over again but instead of clicking the Test Database Connection link first, I just clicked the Next and I went to the next screen. The first step of installing the upgrade scripts worked OK.

Installing Database - Version 4.4.0...undefined...Success
Installation of Database Complete

But when I clicked Next again, I got the same screen - I could not progress any further.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've run into the same problem and the only way I've found to successfully get around it is to do the following:

  1. Wipe out the database so that it's clean
  2. Backup the current web.config (more later on why)
  3. Clean out the DNN install space and copy a fresh install into the directory
  4. Compare the web.configs (new one and the one you backed up) to setup the connection strings and object qualifiers (if you're confident on this part then you don't need the original for comparisons)
  5. Change the "UseInstallWizard" setting to "False" in the web.config

When you go to do the install you won't get the wizard and will just see the script notifications.
