Hi Everyone,

I am developing (using dnn 4.7.0) on my machine that has SQL Server 2005 Developer edition.

My client has SQL Server 2005 Express. I've tried migrating the database from my server (the database backup) to my clients. After following the migration procedure that I had documented and posted on this forum a while ago, i had a lot of problems. (To view my post click here)

Basically when the page loaded up I got a few errors relating to the table names / stored procedures. I noticed that the the prefix of the stored proc name started with "dnn_" in the tables that were in SQL Server 2005 Express.

I had successfully set up DNN 4.7.0 on my clients server so he could play around with it.

Am I able to migrate from SQL Server 2005 Developer edition to SQL Server 2005 Express?

Any help or steps would be most appreciated.

JohannL,

My first thought is that you should not have any trouble migrating from one to another. You should be able to create a full database backup and restore that to SQL Server 2005 Express. This issue that you are seeing may be related to the database owner and object qualifier attributes in your web.config file. Are you using a different version of the code with this new database backup (therefore a new web.config?)

Look for these attributes on the SqlDataProvider element in the providers section:  objectQualifier="dnn_" databaseOwner="dbo"

Let me know if thats of any help,

Ian

Hey Ian!

You are correct. My issue was to do with the object qualifier! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I'll post how this was fixed for the benefit of others sometime this week.

Regards

Johann

For those migrating from SQL Server 2005 Developer edition to SQL Server 2005 Express there is one change that you will need to make in the web config file within DotNetNuke.

After migrating the website files and restoring the back up of the database that you want you may get an error or message informing that a particular table/stored proc cannot be found, and you notice that that the stored proc/table contains a "dnn_" prefix infront.

Have a look at the tables/stored procs in your database and briefly see if the object contain the following prefix "dnn_" in front of the objects. If they do then in the webconfig file search for the objectQualifier. This will be set as objectQualifier="". You will need to change it to read objectQualifier="dnn_".

This should fix your website up.
